Hypervolt Home 3 Pro Charging Modes

Hypervolt are an innovative ev charger brand providing multiple charging modes to suit individual needs and homes with microgeneration such as Solar Panels or Home Battery Storage systems. The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro model currently boasts four charging modes (Boost, Eco, Super Eco and Battery Safe)

Boost Mode

Boost mode offers the maximum EV home charging rate of 7kW or 32A  on a domestic single-phase electrical supply. This mode looks for any available power source including surplus power provided by Solar Panels and home battery storage systems. If no solar panels and battery storages systems are present Boost Mode will operate solely from the electrical grid at the maximum rate

Eco Mode

Eco mode guarantees a minimum EV charger rate of 1.4kW taken from the grid to ensure smooth EV charging without interruptions. This mode is then designed primarily to utilise surplus electricity generated by solar panels to increase charging using surplus power up to a maximum of 7.4kW.

Super Eco Mode

Super Eco Mode solely relies upon home generation such as Solar generation and Battery Storage systems. In this mode no energy is taken from the grid although a minimum of 1.4kW of power is required to activate EV charger session. If this threshold is not achieved charging will not start.

Battery-Safe Mode

Battery-safe mode is an additional feature to combat the draining of home battery storage systems into the electric vehicle. Similar to Super Eco Mode with an extra layer of monitoring to pause the charge if the home battery storage system is discharging to EV. A higher minimum surplus generation of 1.9kW is required to activate charging or charging will not start.

Scheduling EV Charging

Multi-Mode Scheduling on the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro gives you the flexibility to customise charging sessions by setting start/end times and choosing different charging modes for each day of the week. Multiple schedules can be created within a single day, combining Eco Mode during daytime solar generation with off peak EV tariffs giving you greater control over the charging process and more savings.

Tethered or Untethered

Hypervolt Home Pro 3 is an untethered home ev charger, this means the charging lead is hard wired or fixed to the unit and cannot be used on the public charging network.

The Hypervolt Home Pro 3 is manufactured solely as a tethered charge point without untethered options.

A tethered EV charger is convenient when returning home in Winter evening or from long journeys as there is no requirement to retrieve your charging cable from the boot, with a tethered ev charger it is plug & play.

The Hypervolt Home Pro 3 brings three tethered options with charging cable lengths of

• 5mtrs – Standard
• 7.5mtrs – Upgrade
• 10mtrs – Upgrade

External body and colours

The Hypervolt Home Pro 3 is available in three external body colours 

• Ultra White
• Space Grey
• Ultra Black

These are the same colours as the previous models however now have an upgraded external case build with 95% UV resistant materials providing durability to the physical and visual quality.

An increase in ingress protection ratings to IP66 means the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is not only water resistant but impenetrable by dust.

The Hypervolt Digital Lock

The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is designed with an app-controlled lock to prevent unauthorised charging.

When activated on the EV charger screen of the Hypervolt application all charging activity will be disabled. This feature is useful if your EV charger is easily accessible to others when you are away from home.

A stable Wi-Fi connection between the EV charger and home network is required to operate this feature. If Wifi is unavailable the lock and unlock commands will not be processed.

If the Wi-Fi signal is poor, it is recommended to install a booster or home mesh system to strengthen the connection. Alternatively, a hard-wired Ethernet connection is supported although WiFi connection will be suitable for the vast majority of users.

Smart Tariffs

The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro charger is compatible with smart EV tariff such as OVO Charge Anytime and Octopus Intelligent Go.

These tariffs offer dynamic and cheaper electricity unit prices per kWh for charging the electric vehicle with some as low as 0.07p per kWh.

When the EV charger is plugged in communication between the Hypervolt and the energy provider starts allowing charging to activate when energy prices are at their lowest.

This can be during the day when high levels of renewable energy are being generated from wind farms, or the electricity grid needs to shift load due to low demand.

Smart meters are required to enable data readings to be transmitted to the energy provider.

Your standard home energy tariff rate will apply during the charging sessions with energy used for ev charging only applying at the reduced rate.

As the ev charger needs to be plugged in smart tariffs are beneficial when the electric vehicle is present at the property for the majority of the day.

If the electric vehicle is more commonly home in the evenings a standard off peak EV tariff during overnight hours may prove more effective especially when coupled with a home battery storage system.

Safety Features

EV charger load management is crucial to protect your homes main incoming supply and fuse from electrical overload.

Most domestic properties in the UK have main incoming fuse ratings between 60,80 or 100Amps

As the ev charger can draw upto 32Amps or 7,4kW the home charger has the potential to utilise over 50% of the homes capacity assuming a 60A main fuse.

Automatic load management is used to adjust the maximum power supplied to your EV without overloading your property. It monitors the power supply in real-time and If the load is high due to appliances being switched on simultaneously will automatically reducesthe EV charging speed until safe to increase.

 This prevents your electrical system from overloading, avoids tripping the fuse and ensures uninterrupted charging.

Warranties

The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro comes with a standard manufacturers warranty of 3 years commencing from the day of installation.

This warranty can be extended to 5 years with an additional fee for extra piece of mind.

Installers may offer parts and installation warranties to supplement the manufacturer warranties. This covers the external electrical accessories required to power the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro such as electcical circuit protection and cable supply
